“There’s no business like showbusiness”
Irving Berlin
Where the love for writing began…
Theatre is a life-long passion. Therefore when the opportunity presented itself to start writing reviews… … I whole-heartedly said yes! It’s absolute bliss, the combination of theatre, writing and being a patron of the performing arts. I can express myself more eloquently through the written word. Even though my theatrical reviews are both in Dutch as in English, the English language has more beautiful layers and words to describe particular emotions and actions, and has a beautiful rhyme and rhythm. To me, it always felt like a second nature.

My soul is fed by being swept of my feet by a dramatic play, weeping my eyes out during the 11 o’clock number in a musical or laughing out loud during stand-up comedy. Starting from childhood, I’ve seen a lot of shows. Thinking about the money spent, I could have bought a pretty decent car or go traveling around the world, but it has been totally worth it. Theatre brings me everywhere I desire. The joy, the agony, the drama, the love, the laughter, it moves me and provides an escape from the mundane of daily life in general.
I choose to follow my heart and gut instinct, a choice made fully, consciously and daily, which applies to both my work life as my personal life. I am eternally grateful to work in a rewarding job which I love dearly and to call the most beautiful city of the Netherlands my home
